Growing DivisionOur wholesale growing operation was founded in Los Angeles in 1925. Today Mellano & Company farms more then 375 acres in San Luis Rey and 75 acres in Carlsbad. Year round, we produce and sell more than seven million bunches of fresh flowers and foliage from our fields located in the heart of the Southern region on an annual basis. With two Ph.D.s and one Masters-level Horticulturist on staff, our crops are produced under the most advanced scientific and environmentally responsible conditions. Direct from our growing operation in San Luis Rey, Mellano & Company ships products to wholesalers worldwide. Mellano & Company not only handles flowers from our own farm, but also products from throughout California and the United States. We adhere to strict post-harvest guidelines, ensuring you receive the utmost in freshness and quality. Flowers are packed, pre-cooled, and prepared for shipment daily. We use more than 13,000 square feet of on-site computer monitored refrigeration, with a pre-cooling capacity of over 350 boxes per hour. In addition to our domestic suppliers, we source products from South America, Holland, Australia, Mexico, Italy, and other countries throughout the world.
