Mellano & Company has come a long way since its humble beginnings when Giovanni Mellano first immigrated here in 1925. Today Mellano & Company farms more than 375 acres in San Luis Rey and Carlsbad. Year-round we produce more than seven million bunches of flowers and foliage from these locations in the perfect, temperate climate of coastal Southern California. From these fields that have been producing Mellano & Company’s signature crops such as Ranunuculus and Myrtle for over 30 years, to our newest crops plantings such as decorative Chili Peppers, our pride comes from the exceptional quality of flowers and foliage that we grow on our land.
Produced under the care of two PhDs and a Master-level Horticulturalist, our crops are grown under the most advanced scientific and environmentally responsible conditions. We adhere to strict post-harvest guidelines, ensuring you receive the utmost in freshness and quality. Fresh from the harvest – our flowers and foliage are packed, pre-cooled and prepared for shipment daily. We use more than 20,000 square feet of on-site computer monitored refrigeration with pre-cooling capacity of over 350 boxes per hour.
