Aniska Creations Tour and Workshop with Mellano & Company
See how we hosted Aniska Creations, and how you can book the same experience.
We hosted Aniska Creations, a group of floral design and photography students, for a two-part floral experience with Mellano & Company. They didn't come for a typical class. They came to follow the flowers from the field all the way to the floral design table, and to see how the floral industry really works from the inside.
Here's how it came together.
The Farm in Oceanside
The trip started at the source. The group toured Mellano Farm in Oceanside, where our flowers are grown. Lead by Mike A. Mellano, Mellano Chief Science Officer and a third-generation flower farmer, students walked the rows of flowers and greens, met the growers, and saw the parts of the process most florists never witness: how blooms and greens are grown at scale, cut at the right stage, and wrapped and bunched before anything ships.
They stepped into the coolers, got their hands on fresh product straight from the field, and asked questions directly to the people who grow it. For a group used to buying flowers already boxed and delivered, it was a completely new perspective,
A Market Tour and Workshop with Mellano LA
As part of their tour, our Mellano LA team hosted Aniska Creations for a morning at The Original LA Flower Market in Downtown LA in the LA Flower District.
They started with a guided tour of the flower market floor, sharing its history and helping the group shop for fresh flowers straight from the source.
Then took them behind the scenes at the Mellano LA cooler and distribution center to see how flowers are stored, kept cold, and prepped before they go out to florists.
From there, the group moved into the Mellano LA Design Space for a hands-on workshop.
The Space That Made It Possible
The workshop happened in the Mellano LA Design Space, our rentable space inside The Original LA Flower Market.
It gives florists a dedicated place to teach and design, steps from one of the country's largest selections of fresh flowers, without hauling stems across the city.
