FEATURED FLOWER TIP – DAHLIAS
July 13, 2012
Here’s a great way to make your big, beautiful Dahlia blooms last longer. It may seem odd to put fresh flowers in hot water, but trust me, this tip works wonders!
Fill a bucket with no more than 3 inches of HOT water (160-180°F) and add cut bloom food. Place clean cut stems around the edge of the bucket allowing the steam to vent out of the center. Allow the flowers to drink in room at temperature for 1 – 2 hours until the water cools to room temperature. This sets the blooms and the petals should feel firmer. The part of the stem that is in the hot water should turn brown. This is a one-time treatment. Arrange your Dahlias in cool water and enjoy your firm, long lasting beauties!
