STUNNING SUNFLOWER STAMENS

Well, here I go again…giving away some of my best design ideas! I love to share what I’ve learned over the years, and would love it even more if you’d share some of the creations you’ve made by following my tips. Feel free to post them to the Mellano and Company Facebook page. Now, on to this week’s tip!

Sunflowers are a great design element, long lasting, inexpensive and can be used in many ways. I like to feature the flower’s stamen, especially on green-centered Sunflowers. Simply remove all of the outer petals of the flower and you have a new flower. You can even play “He loves me …He loves me not!”

You can mix them in with un-plucked Sunflowers, or they look great and different on their own. Try stamen Sunflowers as an accent in nosegays. Bells of Ireland and Blue Belladonna Delphinium are a great mix with the stamen Sunflower as well.
