In addition to farming on our 375 acres of flowers, greens, and fillers, we also work with hand selected farms around the state of California to offer our customers the best choice of California grown fresh flowers for all their needs.
California Grown is a local organization that was created to emphasize our strong ties to the land and to our neighbors. It takes pride in our homegrown products and our work, and to support our economy and our Californian way of life. California Grown reminds all of us how important it is to seek out and purchase agricultural products grown and produced locally in California.
Mellano and Company is a leading California cut flower grower, shipper and wholesaler supplying retail florists and big box stores with high quality, locally grown flowers, greens, and fillers. Established in 1925, Mellano and Company is family owned and now managed by a half dozen third generation family members. It farms over 375 acres in San Diego County, with wholesale locations in Los Angeles (LA Flower Market), Orange County, Carlsbad and Las Vegas.
At California Grown, they are all about connecting Californians with their farmers. Farmers love connecting with the people who enjoy their harvests almost as much as they love a rainy winter. Each Mellano family member could tell you about their pride and involvement with California Grown, we were established back in 1925, and have always has our ties to California. After all, California is America’s leading producer of high-quality cut flowers and greens – supplying over 75 percent of all domestically grown cut flowers in the United States.
June has been declared officially, “CA Grown Month”. This is to recognize and honor the men and women of the California grown flower industry for their dedication and productivity statewide of flowers and greens grown across millions of square feet, spanning from down in San Diego up North to the Oregon border.
